I won't lie, the thought of leaving everything that is familiar to me scares me more than I can really express, but I know that not only is this the opportunity of a lifetime to see beyond the U.S., it's an opportunity to really learn about myself.
I have been procrastinating writing this first post because I wasn't really ready to accept the fact that I would actually be leaving, but with my departure coming in less than 24 hours I am forced to finally accept that it is time. It hardly seems possible that something I have been talking about for more than 6 months is actually happening! I will be on the plane on my way to Spain at this time tomorrow :)
I don't think there are enough words to express how excited I am to start this adventure, but tomorrow will be a bittersweet day for me. It will be so difficult saying goodbye to my family and leaving them for such a long time, but thankfully they are so supportive and cannot wait for me to start out on this chapter in my life!
My first couple of days in Barcelona will be spent in a hotel with the rest of the students participating in the same program. We will go through an orientation, a tour of Barcelona and some other important info before we are picked up by our host family and begin our classes.
I am very excited to be able to share this experience with all of you and please know that each of y'all are in my thoughts and prayers and I will miss you dearly during my time away!
